Sump Pump vs Ejector Pump: What Does Each Do?

They look similar and live in similar places, but they do different jobs. Here's the difference.

Water Wolves LLC flood control drainage access

Sump pumps and ejector pumps both move water, but they handle different kinds of water and different situations.

A sump pump handles groundwater — the water that collects around your foundation and would otherwise end up in your basement. It keeps the space dry.

An ejector pump moves wastewater — the kind that comes from a basement bathroom or laundry — up and out to the sewer line. It handles solids that a sump pump isn't built for.

If either one fails, the result is water where you don't want it. We service and replace both, and we'll tell you honestly which one your setup actually needs.
